Christine has enjoyed a career in nursing that spans over 30 years. From cardiology to care management and discharge planning, it has been her honor to serve those who need support and guidance through illness and recovery. Her experience with the MRx Cares team has been a remarkable transition from her former nursing roles and continues to remind Christine of the importance of the career she chose many years ago.
Jody Kaplan, ADN, RN
Nurse Care Manager
Jody has been a nurse for over 20 years, with past experiences in emergency medicine, pre-and post-operative care, gastroenterology, and infectious disease, focusing on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Before her current role as a Nurse Care Manager, Jody assisted in launching the MRx Cares program. She loves that the nursing field is constantly evolving, providing countless opportunities within the profession to improve the delivery of high-quality patient care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and exploring other cultures and cuisines.
Emily Walter, BSN, RN
Nurse Care Manager
Throughout her nursing career, Emily has primarily specialized in critical care nursing. She enjoys connecting with her patients and their families and believes that compassion is one of the most important traits a nurse can have. Before entering the healthcare world, Emily graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. She has been able to incorporate her artistic abilities with her baking hobby and is well-known for making beautiful and delicious cakes and cupcakes. Emily looks forward to working with our patients with the goal of improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
Louise Frederick, ADN, RN-BC
Nurse Care Manager
With 10+ years of nursing experience, Louise has had the privilege of working with a variety of patient populations in many settings. From home health and long-term care, to working in acute-skilled care and other hospital settings, she has benefitted from years of collaborative-interdisciplinary efforts towards improving patient outcomes with a strong emphasis on the importance of patient education. Her most recent clinical experience, in critical care, provided Louise the opportunity to obtain her ANCC Board Certification in Cardiac-Vascular Nursing. Louise also holds a strong community presence as the Vice President of her city’s Board of Health, advocating for the health, safety, and general wellbeing of the public. When not working, she is likely to be found on the sidelines or in the bleachers somewhere, cheering on one of her three children in one of their various year-round sports.
Heidi Bender, CPhT
Member Outreach Coordinator
Heidi is a dedicated member of the team specializing in care coordination for our members. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of North Carolina. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized multiple times as she’s been awarded Pharmacy Technician of the Year. Heidi excels in problem-solving, team support, and training. Heidi has a passion for nature and in her free time can be found spoiling her sweet dog Eve.
